At Calmly Student, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our student planning application.
We collect information you provide when creating an account (email address, name, profile details), data you enter into the app (events, habits, study materials, notes, meals, budgets, and wellness entries), and usage data such as feature interactions and app performance metrics.
We use your data to provide and maintain the Calmly Student service, personalise your experience, process payments and manage subscriptions, improve our app based on usage patterns, send important service updates, and ensure the security of your account.
We work with trusted third-party services to operate Calmly Student: Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Umami (privacy-friendly analytics, no personal data collected), RevenueCat (subscription management), Stripe (web payment processing), Apple (iOS App Store payments), and Google (Google Play billing for Android purchases). These services process data as necessary to provide their functions and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Some features ask for optional device permissions, and the app keeps working if you refuse them. Room Finder can use your device’s precise location to show listings near you: your coordinates are used once to run that search and are never stored on our servers or shared with other users. The flashcard photo scan reads text from an image entirely on your device. The image itself is never uploaded. Photos and PDFs you attach to a study subject are stored privately in our cloud storage and are visible only to you. You can withdraw any permission at any time in your device settings.
Room Finder allows users to post publicly visible housing listings. Listings include: title, description, room type, price, city, country, available date, contact email, and optional photos. Contact emails included in listings are visible to all authenticated users of the platform. Photos are stored in our cloud infrastructure and are publicly accessible via URL. We do not verify the accuracy of any listing information. Photos are scanned for inappropriate content using automated moderation tools. We reserve the right to remove any listing or photo that violates our guidelines, without prior notice. Users can report inappropriate listings through the in-app reporting feature. Listing data is retained for 90 days after a listing expires, after which it may be permanently deleted. Users can delete their own listings and associated photos at any time through the app.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through the app settings, which will permanently remove all your personal data from our systems within 30 days. Backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes.
As we are based in the Netherlands, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. You have the right to: access your personal data, rectify inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, restrict processing of your data, data portability (export your data), object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. We use only essential cookies required for authentication and maintaining your session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any non-essential cookies. Our analytics service (Umami) is cookie-free and does not track personal information.
Calmly Student is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
Your data may be processed in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to protect your data in accordance with GDPR requirements.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the app and, where appropriate, by email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
